Amber Yi is March's Fitness Athlete of the Month

There aren’t many days during the week in which you won’t find Amber Yi training in Muay Thai or fitness classes at Straight Blast Gym Buford.

 

In addition to being a regular in our 9:30am Muay Thai, Fitness Kickboxing, and Fitness Performance clases, Amber has established herself as one of the harder workers at Straight Blast Gym.  

 

Last summer, Amber competed in her very first Muay Thai tournament, engaging in a back-and-forth battle with another young female athlete.  Despite taking a 3-round decision loss, Amber didn’t waiver from her training. Where as often times people will lose a martial arts match or competition and it breaks their confidence, Amber used it as fuel to come back and train even harder in Muay Thai.  In addition to increased Muay Thai training, she began jumping into Fitness Kickboxing and Fitness Performance classes too, to help her overall strength and conditioning. Head Fitness Coach James Morton spoke about Amber’s efforts in class:

 

“Amber is incredibly nice and a very hard worker. She trains everyday, usually in class, but if she can’t make it to class she will come make up the workout during off hours. She also usually follows up her workouts with kickboxing bag work and/or running.” 

 

It is quite impressive to see this young lady so routinely making fitness a part of her routine.  Like most people, Amber’s work schedule doesn’t always allow her to make all of the fitness or martial arts classes that she wants to attend, but she still takes the effort to show up at SBG Buford to get in her workouts.  Her hard work at the gym definitely shows, as she has set several new personal record’s on our Fitness Measureables Board.
