Our Fitness Member of the Month is Loma Nagel

Loma spent two years working with a personal trainer at a big box gym, not getting the results she wanted. This is what led her to start doing CrossFit.

Like a lot of people, Loma sought out the guidance of an expert to help her get in top shape. After failing to get the results that she was looking for, she decided to get into CrossFit. Loma tells us how it went down:

I was a lacrosse player in high school, playing for all four years. After I graduated I wanted to stay active so I started working outwith a personal trainer at a big gym in Buford, which lasted for about two years. I saw very little progress, and started to get frustrated that I was spending money and time and not getting what I was looking for. After that I decided I was done with chain gyms.

A good friend of mine had always been a fan of CrossFit, so I figured I’d see what all the hype was about. I immediately started to notice the positive changes CrossFit had to my physique and endurance. I was scared of the weightlifting at first, but it eventually became my favorite part of class.

To say that Loma became a fan of weightlifting is an understatement. In addition to our Performance classes, she also is a member of our Barbell Club. Like a lot of people, especially women, Loma had some intimidation about lifting heavy weight. She didn’t want to get bulky, a common fear for a lot of women. Instead, Loma saw major positive differences in her physique, strength, and movement. When asked about what keeps Loma coming to the day gym, day after day, she gave us this:

With great coaches and amazing programming it wasn’t a hard choice to keep coming back…every day. The absolute best thing about joining Straight Blast Gym Buford is the amazing community. Everyone is so supportive and motivating. Every workout is fun and upbeat thanks to all of the outgoing members. Going to the gym after work during the week has become the best part of my day, without a doubt.
