Karen Trejo is Straight Blast CrossFit's Member of the Month for February!!

 

Karen Trejo has one of the best attitudes that you can ask for in a human being.

 

She always has a smile on her face before and after her workouts. She is a part of several programs at Straight Blast Gym; CrossFit, Kickboxing, and our Barbell Club. When asked about her time training at SBG, Karen had this to say:

 

“I was at LA Fitness for a year and really didn’t get anywhere near what I’ve accomplished here in less time. My favorite thing is without a doubt the people. They will motivate you, push you when you’re lazy or want to stop, encourage you to do things you feel you might not be ready for, and even have the occasional. dance contest with you, LOL. Coach Kristen convinced me to sign up for the Buns and Guns CrossFit competition last October when I thought I hadn’t been in CrossFit long enough. I loved it and want to do it again. I’ve been to other gyms, but to have a strong, kind and entertaining community like this, under one roof, is why I love it.

 

Since joining I have lost 20lbs! My strength has massively improved since starting CrossFit and Barbell Club. Last August/September I could only squat 65lbs. My personal record currently sits at 132lbs!”

 

One of her CrossFit coaches, Kristen Rhodes, said this when asked about Karen:

 

“Karen is awesome! I remember a couple months ago she was nervous to join a CrossFit competition, but with a little convincing she signed up and ended up doing awesome! I recall how excited she got when she hit a personal record on her clean and jerk during the first event. She was so excited and you couldn’t help but feel so good for her. Just recently she started doing our Whole Life Challenge, and after only a week she is already down 6 pounds! She’s been doing great with her diet, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that a lot of days she’s doing two sessions. I am so proud of her!”

After a lot of success in CrossFit and Barbell Club, Karen has recently jumped back into Kickboxing, taking advantage of private lessons with Coach Jim and Coach Jared. Her endurance and coordination are seeing vast improvement, and all of her coaches are incredibly proud of the tremendous progress and results Karen has achieved. Not only has it been amazing to watch her physical enhancements, but to also witness her overcoming some of her internal fears and limitations by stepping out of her comfort zone.
